Film star Anthony Hopkins was requested about former President Donald Trump’s obvious fixation on and repeated reward for the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter, who Hopkins received an Oscar for portraying within the 1991 horror movie “The Silence of the Lambs.”

The cannibalistic Lecter has “come up rather a lot throughout this election marketing campaign right here in America” with Trump “talking about him at his rallies as if he’s an actual particular person,” Deadline’s Dominic Patten famous to Hopkins in an interview revealed Tuesday.

Trump, who’s now the official GOP presidential nominee, has repeatedly referred to the character at rallies, normally throughout elements of his speeches when he demonizes immigrants.

“As if he’s actual?” Hopkins requested throughout a dialog that was ostensibly about his upcoming mission “These About To Die.”

“I didn’t know that,” Hopkins continued, reportedly whereas laughing. “Hannibal, that’s a very long time in the past that film. God, that was over 30 years in the past. I’m shocked and appalled what you’ve informed me about Trump.”

“Sorry about that,” Patten mentioned.

“Oh, it’s all proper. I feel we’re OK. I’ve loved it thus far. I’m sorry I can’t elaborate on stuff I do. I’ve at all times saved it, particularly in later years, saved it quite simple,” Hopkins replied.

Hopkins in 2018 expressed ambivalence towards Trump and politics generally. “I don’t vote as a result of I don’t belief anybody,” the Guardian quoted him as saying.
