Flash flood warning issued for Forrest, Lamar counties till 11 p.m.


PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) -The Nationwide Climate Service in Jackson has issued a flash flood warning for Forrest and Lamar counties till 11 p.m. Sunday.

NWS stated the southeastern areas in each counties have seen heavy rains, with one other 2 to three inches potential.

At 8:23 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in southern Forrest County close to Brooklyn.

Between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 inches of rain have fallen, NWS stated.

NWS stated flash flooding is ongoing or anticipated to start.

Flash flooding will be anticipated round small creeks and streams, city areas, highways, streets and underpasses, in addition to different poor drainage and low-lying areas.
